Why add vision to your CRX?

The FANUC CRX is built for fast, flexible deployment. But like any robot, it can only move to positions it’s been taught. If parts arrive scattered in a bin, shifted on a pallet, or slightly out of place, the cobot stops or fails.

Inbolt removes that constraint. A robot-mounted 3D camera and a CAD-trained AI vision model locate each part in 6DoF in real time, and Inbolt corrects the robot’s trajectory on the fly. The CRX picks, places, and assembles parts wherever they actually are, not where they’re supposed to be.

Training takes minutes, not weeks. Inbolt learns parts directly from their CAD model. No dataset collection, no labeling, no internet connection required. It works on painted, machined, metallic, and semi-transparent parts, in any lighting.

  • Yes. Inbolt connects natively to the CRX controller, with no middleware or custom development. Stationary applications use FANUC’s User Socket Messaging option (R648). Moving line applications add Stream Motion (J519) and KAREL (R632), on controller software v9.0 with the P84 patch and above. Setup takes minutes: mount the camera, connect the controller, import your part’s CAD, and train.

  • No. Inbolt trains on your part’s CAD model automatically, in under 5 minutes, locally. There’s no dataset collection, no labeling, and no vision tuning. If you can program a CRX, you can deploy Inbolt.

  • An Inbolt camera mounted on the CRX wrist and the Inbolt controller, an industrial PC that runs everything on-premise. The Standard Camera covers most applications. The High Precision Camera handles small or flat parts needing < 0.3 mm accuracy.

  • Part detection in 100 ms, localization accuracy of ±0.5 to 1 mm with the Standard Camera and under 0.3 mm with the High Precision Camera. Bin picking cycles run under 1 second per pick.
